Day 249 – 6 reasons why I love Jesus’ uniqueness…

(1) Born into the lowest social position. He was conceived in a stinking stable where animals live. Within Jewish tradition and social standing, this would be one of the lowest places a person could be born. On top of that, his adoptive father Joseph’s lineage was full of broken, unlovable, wicked people; it’s a sign that Jesus is for everybody, regardless of background or how low, broken, or evil we might appear.

(2) He put on human flesh. Descending from a perfect world to this broken one, He did something that no other god has done. Most gods of other religions say they listen to prayers, but Jesus put on ears, eyes, nose, and mouth being able to empathise entirely with the human condition and plight.

(3) Jesus lived an innocent life – pure. He never sinned to make certain we were fully protected.

(4) He made the choice to be sacrificed for our sins even though He’d witnessed the worst of humanity, we’d betrayed Him repeatedly, and we still betray Him today.

(5) He took on the most brutal criminal penalty of the day – crucifixion; a slow, savagely painful, public humiliation. A penalty reserved only for the worst criminal offenders.

(6) He stands above all the prophets and all the angels in full glory, accomplished in something that no other human, spirit, or god could ever achieve – victory over death and sin. He offers us this gift for free.
