This is Us is likely the greatest show I’ve ever seen. The writer tapped into something unique that I’ve never seen done so well in a series: that enigmatic ‘thing’ is the immense significance of a solid, steadfast, loving father.
Whenever I encounter an issue in life, I backtrack over the variables that might be the cause.
With phones and internet, there is now an abundance of knowledge at our finger tips so that we are without excuse – so why do mistakes in organisations recur? Blame Culture. Blame Culture focuses on someone to blame, shame, and possibly punish in order to balance the scales. Potentially, short term needs are met and everyone continues their work, but the same mistakes will re-emerge; sometimes in a different form making it increasingly difficult to find a solution if the blame culture mechanic is in action…
Humiliation is a valley moment, but if we’re walking with the Holy Spirit, it’s a necessary painful process with a purpose.
Back in Uni, it was considered an honour and a strength when one could ‘handle their liquor,’ as in keep it down and not make a clown of themselves despite drinking copious amounts. But a healthy, functioning body will spew that liquid back out. Why? Because it’s the body’s healthy way of ‘handling the liquor’ very well.
Any activity founded in attempting to prove and/or measure our value against a broken, imperfect world can’t truly be healthy, especially when our very existence on Earth is all the worth we’ll ever need.
