“Straight ahead sir,” replied the security guard.

“Thanks, and where’s Jacob Cain’s office?”

“First floor. Enter the door labelled Ministry of Correspondence and Industry. Ask reception there.”

“Thanks very much.”

I looked around at my surroundings. It was a modern facility with fierce air conditioning, already helping to cool my face. Tiled hard floor with carpeted areas created a welcoming space. Two adjacent lifts leading to the higher floors stood in the massive lobby. At the sides were sets of tables and four chairs, presumably for visitors or as lunch areas.
