Human ambition consists of seeking higher positions, greater titles, more money, enhanced power, further control, and ‘bragging rights.’
Everything we see and touch is perishable; to a mind that thinks of the long-term or the greater picture, such perishable goods aren’t worthy of investment.
Denying ‘self’ or dying to ‘self’ opens up a new mindset; a new universe of thoughts, intents, desires, ambitions, and emotions.
As the tech era (phones, apps, social media, on-demand culture) tightens its grip on humans’ dependency, reliance, and dare I say addiction…
Often translated as self-control, there’s nothing egotistical, ‘self’ oriented, or of one’s own strength when contemplating Spiritual temperance.
One of the most comforting things to see is a figure who has incredible authority over others…
To exhibit faithfulness is to operate healthily and holistically with integrity and optimism, even when circumstances look terrible and feel painful for a prolonged and seemingly hopeless time.
Being charitable when no one is able to congratulate or measure such a gesture is a strong sign of goodness.
True kindness doesn’t expect any reward…not even a warm, fuzzy feeling. It’s all about the interests of others, even at the expense of our own.
