Negativity can come from external, bad influences. But it’s not rooted in them. The more I get to know the humble, lowly, forgiving character of Jesus, the more I recognise that every single negative thought and emotion—without exception—is birthed by the ego; that place of self-envisioned self-importance that exists in every single one of us; that place that has the ability to deceive us into thinking we have absolute control over life’s outcomes.
There’s nothing wrong with being counter-self-preservation. Selflessness has wider benefits.
The way wildlife moves without worry, vast sky-reaching trees grow to tremendous heights, a cell gives room to create bone and tissue within a womb…it’s amazing how the reverence for daily miracles has been diminished by human technological advancement.
After so many years of disliking the guitar, this week, I finally learnt how beautiful the instrument is. It’s as if my ears were given an upgrade!
Some of the greatest and most memorable lessons come with the faith one employs in travelling to a country where one is compelled through lack of experience to surrender their knowledge and depend upon something greater to live.
