Trying to appease everyone is impossible – even putting one individual on a pedestal is perilous.
The challenge we face with our family, friends, work colleagues, and peers is consistency.
Across long periods of time, it can be difficult for people to remain constant in their behaviour and reactions; if we base our lives on performance for such individuals, it can lead to confusion and deception, founded in a lack of clear understanding of where our value is; this is because the individual(s) we are attempting to impress may keep shifting the goal posts unconsciously (or consciously) making our own grounding unstable.
