Building a real and healthy community! [Podcast 4]
To build a proper, healthy community that sincerely heals and moves on from individual past pains, it takes more than just being nice and wishing each other well.
To see the real healing of mental wounds and the most loving relationships come to fruition, there are some activities of selflessness that we need to be taught.
First:
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:16
This doesn’t mean confessional boxes…
This verse is talking about a natural disposition–unforced and without manipulation–to be transparent and vulnerable as opposed to concealing, suppressing, and repressing mistakes, failings, weaknesses, hurts, or bad deeds.
Second:
“Carry one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
This doesn’t mean being anxious for others, but it’s a mature application of wisdom and kindness, counting others as more important than ourselves.
Both aren’t laws to follow, but are byproducts of surrender to Jesus, resulting in an inclination-transformation; otherwise known as a reorientation of the heart or priorities.
They comprise the ability to fulfil the law of Christ which is to love one another…the selfless way.
