When I was a child, I was certain that by twenty-seven, I would have a wife and children, a successful career, and financial stability.
I used to go a little further in my imagination with the financial stability part, expressing to my younger brother that I would be standing in one of those tall, glass buildings in New York City as the CEO of some technology company.
The image I would picture revealed me in a black pin stripe suit, crisp white shirt, and red tie, standing on the highest floor in a skyscraper overlooking “The Big Apple.”
There would be a knock at my oak-wood door, followed by my PA introducing the guest into my spacious, contemporary office.
I would turn around, snapping myself out of my pensive musings to welcome my next potential client for whatever business it was that I was running.
I would offer a firm handshake and a gesture for my guest to take a seat.
“Hello, Mr. Umanov, please take a seat. I understand you wish to discuss more details on the First Order Portfolio…”
…This fantasy was a long time ago…
Never did I imagine the life I lead now…
The way things have materialised has been a stark contrast to what I envisioned and planned…
