(1) Why make ‘God in human form’ lowly, meek, humble, and submissive unto death when humans have traditionally depicted gods as powerful, commanding, and forceful? (2) In a patriarchal society that by contemporary standards would be judged as misogynistic and sexist, why make a woman the first eye-witness to the most important event in the entire Bible? (3) Why is a prostitute–a role considered low by secular society past and present–listed among the great heroes of faith in the Bible?
