With Vernon as my escort around the islands, I recalled meeting Saul in this very lobby where he would ignite debates with his co-workers. He’d seemed genuinely interested to help me secure a job as a writer and for all intensive purposes, it seemed like he’d come through. 

Beginning to dry through the generous air conditioner, I darted into the restroom, grabbed several wads of paper towels, and dabbed my face clean. I undid the buttons on my shirt and reached in with the paper towels to clean up my wet chest and armpits.

Looking presentable enough in the mirror, I left the rest room and made a beeline for the lift—climbing the stairs would provoke my heat receptors again.
