I felt like my instincts had taken over with a brazen honesty that was attempting to protect me by escaping the situation before it begun; something simply wasn’t right about it. I could see it in Jacob’s enigmatic stare and eagerness for me to get started. His round specs reflected the light just enough so I couldn’t see his eyes. And then there was Doloris, sitting there, seemingly unsure about hiring me and looking like she was holding down something dark behind her tilted forehead.
