Pain VS Humiliation? [Podcast 9]
Humiliation is a valley moment, but if we’re walking with the Holy Spirit, it’s a necessary painful process with a powerful purpose.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.
Luke 12:3
Below is a secret sin of the global church that has been happening since we were able. Understandably, it’s not far-fetched to say it’s the no.1 human struggle of the heart.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell...”
Matthew 5:27 – 29
These verses are a severe warning.
Some will argue that it’s not to be taken literally due to the mentioned ‘self-amputation.’
I think the best way to understand these verses, is that hell is so horrific that we NEED to take sexual sin seriously the way we would consider murder or theft.
But, how do we do that if we’ve been taught the complete opposite as I and many others have been?
Being human, we can’t help but measure sin and this particular sin is the one where we will hear intense amounts of ‘grey,’ hushed voices, fabricated confusion, and deliberate complexity to permit wilful disobedience for that hit of pleasure.
Before I got baptised in July 2015, my church leader told me the Kingdom principles of “no sex before marriage,” and “no pornography.”
Needless to say, the pornography stance was absolutely ridiculous to me as a single man, who had just entered the church in January 2015, returning to London from the conspicuously, sex-crazed Caribbean islands where I’d lived for five years.
Just to clarify, I believe that most countries are sex-rampant, but the particular island I lived on was likely a microcosm of what’s happening throughout the world.
Soon after my baptism, I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit through a situation of HUMILIATION.
When walking with the Holy Spirit in sound doctrine, humiliation is a situation that exposes that which is NOT of God—in other words PRIDE—within the individual; even those things we’ve concealed with perfect precision.
Anything that God deems harmful to us or others will be exposed in a memorable way…
