The only way we can really know for certain if we love someone is NOT through good times, but through a harsh testing.
Adverse circumstances beyond our control are interesting in that we are forced to be patient, because we can’t do anything.
One of the most difficult balances to strike is to speak truth to someone in love and/or be loving with the truth.
Mercy triumphs over judgment
“To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
“No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a peaceful harvest of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
“When they see your pure and reverent demeanour. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair or gold jewellery or fine clothes…”
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires…”
“When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal…”
