Happy New Year all. Here in London, all we can do is press into the invisible that is HOPE and do our best with the resources we’ve been gracefully equipped. Keep on, keeping on.

I wrote this poem in 2017. It was a reflection of what I’d learnt following an intensive nine-month group programme of the deepest level of introspection.
As the tech era (phones, apps, social media, on-demand culture) tightens its grip on humans’ dependency, reliance, and dare I say addiction…
“When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal…”
Back in Uni, it was considered an honour and a strength when one could ‘handle their liquor,’ as in keep it down and not make a clown of themselves despite drinking copious amounts. But a healthy, functioning body will spew that liquid back out. Why? Because it’s the body’s healthy way of ‘handling the liquor’ very well.
