Day 217 – Significance of sleep…
As someone who suffered severe struggles with sleep, I’ve been so grateful that my body has been returned to a standard where I can distinctly feel the luxury of eight hours rest without interruption.
At 35 years old, it was all supposed to be complete.
A loving wife, three or four children, one adopted, a successful writing career, and financial freedom so that money anxiety wasn’t a hindrance.
I even moved countries, just to make sure it would all come together.
There was no way I would be the single guy at the prophesied ‘adult’ social dinner.
How did it go so wrong when I really tried to fulfil this?
I’d had the dream since I was 10 years old!
Why didn’t I succeed?
Was my request too much?
Raw Truth Thought Journal is about life’s challenging moments and the spontaneous perceptions that emerge in my mind.
Now that I’m in no man’s land with an expired life plan, God at the helm, and faith through Jesus as my daily guidance, might as well keep a record to see where this all goes…

As someone who suffered severe struggles with sleep, I’ve been so grateful that my body has been returned to a standard where I can distinctly feel the luxury of eight hours rest without interruption.
There are far far better things ahead…
…than any we leave behind.
It’s perfectly logical to think that if we appease everybody, we all win. But both history and profound spiritual morality show us that appeasement never works. Why? Appeasement emerges from self-interest. It’s not about other parties being happy. It’s about the appeaser being happy…such a model for collective peace and prosperity can never work.
It’s amazing and tragic how a good, pure intention within human hands can be made into a blessing or curse.
Many theologians will be aware of the most negative perspective of the human species that exists out there; that we are fearful, arrogant, disobedient, and rebellious in nature.
(1) Looking to the future with expectation of specific outcomes – this unwittingly creates anxiety and stress….
The way wildlife moves without worry, vast sky-reaching trees grow to tremendous heights, a cell gives room to create bone and tissue within a womb…it’s amazing how the reverence for daily miracles has been diminished by human technological advancement.
One of the most dangerous parts of the subconscious mindset with regard to relationships with others is the ‘automated’ survival mechanism of presumption…
A philosophy I’ve come across for a conflict-free life and mass popularity is ‘wearing the mantle of Geneva;’ intentionally pursuing neutrality within all human interaction…
The deepest emotional need for a human being is to FEEL loved; to receive worth, significance, and a sense of security.
The manifestations of this need are amazingly varied in our lives from the dizzying highs of sincere, faithful relationships to the abysmal lows of addictions and mental ailments.
