At 35 years old, it was all supposed to be complete.

A loving wife, three or four children, one adopted, a successful writing career, and financial freedom so that money anxiety wasn’t a hindrance. 

I even moved countries, just to make sure it would all come together.

There was no way I would be the single guy at the prophesied ‘adult’ social dinner. 

How did it go so wrong when I really tried to fulfil this? 

I’d had the dream since I was 10 years old!

Why didn’t I succeed?

Was my request too much?  

Raw Truth Thought Journal is about life’s challenging moments and the spontaneous perceptions that emerge in my mind.

Now that I’m in no man’s land with an expired life plan, God at the helm, and faith through Jesus as my daily guidance, might as well keep a record to see where this all goes…

Day 175 – Liars

The most horrible liars aren’t people, although people can fabricate some pretty savage deceptions.

The worst liars are our hearts.

Unhealed pains, wounds, and trauma create the perfect soil for the lies of our heart to form a worldview founded in deception and it can only grow increasingly with the water provided by the world’s confusing ways. Continue Reading →

Day 171 – Trust

With so much information out there, it’s hard to know who or what to trust. Survival instinct is fantastic for physically perilous fight or flight situations, but I would never trust it as the driver for higher moral reasoning or the deduction of the world’s deeply enigmatic mysteries. Day 165 – The Birth of Negativity

Negativity can come from external, bad influences. But it’s not rooted in them. The more I get to know the humble, lowly, forgiving character of Jesus, the more I recognise that every single negative thought and emotion—without exception—is birthed by the ego; that place of self-envisioned self-importance that exists in every single one of us; that place that has the ability to deceive us into thinking we have absolute control over life’s outcomes. Day 161 – When Survival Instinct FAILS community…

Survival is limited to ‘self’ preservation. Its deception lies in that it can produce good intentions that present a superficial morality. It also deceives with parental instincts which reveal an automatic-morality. But its nature is truly selfish in every single way. Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death are four extremely chaotic and nasty forces in this world that appear to create nothing but hell on Earth for the period they last. But in the horror, there is also great opportunity for positive global change, because such ‘unfair’ forces compel people to stop and meditate about life from a place of vulnerability, fragility, and fallibility.
