2020 – Surrendering my Life…Reflecting on 35 Years

It is now 26.3.2020.

I’ve been in and out of this blog page’s composure for the last three months.

Corona is in full effect here in London.

It’s a mere observation, but the very air we breathe feels different.

It reminds me of when I lived in China and we were compelled to wear face masks, because the pollution noticeably impacted our respiratory systems.

I’m very thankful I have no fear or anxiety about Corona.

All we can do is walk with wisdom, be vigilant, keep healthy, and help people in need.

The most famous man to walk this Earth once said:

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? … See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin…Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

(3) My first clear memories

1986 – 1987. Age Three.

My first clear memories emerge from when I was three years old.

Several experiences spring to mind:

(i) In nursery, a teacher forced me to eat a cream cake that I’d accidentally bitten into, mistaking it for chocolate. Her words were and I paraphrase: “you cannot eat anything else on the party table unless you finish that cream cake.”

(ii) I remember a girl ‘poohing’ her nickers in the nursery restroom. I also recall her full-name, but for the sake of privacy I won’t be divulging.

(iii) I can vividly visualise the immense trek from nursery to home from my three year-old perspective; it’s funny because it’s literally a couple of minutes’ walk across the road from where I live, but it used to feel so much longer!

(iv) On one occasion, I remember a nursery teacher collecting me from home, because my mother was ill. There was colossal fear over being escorted to nursery by a stranger. My nursery was (and still is) across one road; a mere 200 adult-steps or 2 minutes (maximum) of walking.

(v) I love the memory of coming home from nursery (and school in subsequent years) to watch the Look and Read TV series with exciting plots, The Fairground (1983), Dragon’s Eye (1989), and Geordie Racer (1988). There was also Thomas the Tank Engine. I was fascinated by trains. My favourite character in Thomas the Tank Engine was Gordon – he was the head of the Express train!

Message from Jesus – “You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Enjoy childhood. Be good.”

Message from the World – “Adapt, learn, survive. Be afraid of teachers. Don’t embarrass yourself.”
